GAIL Products - G - Lex / G - Lene         




G-Lex high density polyethylene manufactured by GAIL, is based on low pressure polymerisation process MITSUI, Japan. It provides a wide range of grade options to the customers. G-Lex grades, with molecular weight range between 20,000 to 200,000 are suitable for practically all applications of HDPE, including high molecular weight grade based applications like HM-blow moulding, HM-films and pipes.

Product Features

The difference in molecular structure between G-Lex and high pressure PE is that G-lex has by far fewer side chains. For this reason, they are high in density and rigidity, as compared to the former.

G-Lex product features include excellent mechanical strength, impact strength, weatherability, easy processability, superb low temperature impact resistance and superior stress crack resistance.

G-Lex has a wide range of uses from household moulded items to industrial components. Its high molecular weight grades are found to be excellent for critical applications such as, production of ultra thin HM film and large blow moulded containers.



G-Lene range of HDPE & LLDPE grades is based on "Sclairtech" solution process technology of Nova Chemicals, Canada. This process provides custom tailored resin with :

  • A wide range of molecular weights and Molecular Weight Distribution (MWD)
  • Minimum catalyst residue in the polymer leading to minimal interference with other additives in the system and requirement of less stabilisation package.

G-Lenehd features include excellent gloss and low degree of warpage, high impact strength and stiffness offering an optimal mix of optical and mechanical performance for various applications. These grades offer greater ability to meet the diverse and innovative requirement of the market with exceptionally high quality performance.

G-LeneII features comprise toughness, tensile strength, sealing characteristics, low gel count resistance to leakage and pin-holes. Its applications cover superior films for industrial bags, stretch film, shopping bags, liquid packaging and lamination. It employs narrower die gaps and requires less power in processing than many competitive liner materials, while producing films exhibiting gloss and clarity.

All relevant grades meet the requirement of BIS Standard 10146-1982 on "Specification for PE for its safe use in contact with foodstuffs, pharmaceutical, and drinking water". It also conforms to the positive list of constituents as prescribed in BIS 10141-1982 and passes the "undue toxicity test"
